In a performance review, line managers rate the efforts of their employees against more or less defined criteria, share their views of what worked well and not so well. This is a good practice, but we can do more. Great leaders use past performance to open a discussion with their people about development opportunities. They look into new skills to gain, stretched assignments to take on which will let them grow in their careers. Leadership is about helping people to see and reach their true potential!
