Seeing Past Attitude

Let’s be honest—there will be people you lead that you simply don’t like. Whatever it is, their attitude rubs you the wrong way.

But before you write someone off, ask yourself: What might I be missing?

What we often call a “bad attitude” is sometimes a mask for stress, fear, or something deeper. It doesn’t excuse poor behavior—but it does invite curiosity and compassion. The key is not to let yourself be triggered or reactive.

Great leaders find value in people they don’t naturally connect with. And often, the person who tests your patience the most becomes your greatest teacher.
