Unpleasant Emotions

During a performance review, George meets with Jennifer, his department head. While George’s evaluation is positive, Jennifer expected more and becomes emotional, shedding tears. Have you ever been in such a situation, where you get surprised by the emotional reaction of somebody else ? If you encounter a situation like this, avoid making assumptions or telling the person how to feel. Instead, ask empathic questions and listen attentively, allowing the other person to express their emotions openly and feel heard. Follow emotions to find solutions !
