It has been tense between you and your colleague, and then you clashed. You know you can’t leave it at that. How can you restart? Often, by default we condemn everything the other one said and did, simultaneously we justify to us our own course of action leading to the heated debate. By talking to allies, we only solidify our view of right and wrong. Try something else instead! Learn something from what you have been criticized for, see the intentions behind the other person’s behavior, apologize for what you did wrong and commit to a change that makes things better next time!
