Emotional Reaction

LeaderTrip's Coaching Emotional Reaction

This particular situation didn’t turn out very well, your colleague could have handled it much better. You have some good points for improvement and follow-up afterward. However, your colleague gets quickly emotional and defensive. Let your candid message wait for later, the other person is not able to receive it in this state. Try to understand the emotional reaction, ask into it. Then find out together how you can re-engage fully in your constructive dialog. You’re not responsible for other people’s feelings in such a conversation, but for the way, you provide your feedback.
