Telling your people what to do simply doesn’t work. In the best case, you might get compliance, but you’ll never get engagement. Make your team part of the solution. Put your ideas on the table and ask them to poke holes in it to make them better. Ask them for their thoughts and listen to them. Debate the various options you have and decide together what is best for you. You might fail from time to time, but you jointly own the outcome, and eventually, you’ll get it right!
